About This Project

Winter

February, 2005

Size: 4’x10′

Materials:  Sound, Speakers, Computer, Firewire Camera, Audio Hardware

Winter is a piece that was installed in the foyer of a club and bar called Sonotheque in Chicago, comprised of 15 speakers mounted on a curved wall.  An interactive piece, viewers could control the dynamics of sound layers when walking through the space, triggering sensitive zones monitored by a computer camera-eye.  Sound layers are composed field-recordings of hot-water radiators and baking food, creating an immersive, abstract soundscape of crackle and hiss through organic processes.
